Tragic Loss of Lives in Myanmar: PDF Terrorists Supported by NUG Under Scrutiny
Yangon, 16 February 2024
In the early hours of March 13, 2023, tragedy struck the serene village of Der Sen in Aung Lan Township, Magwe Division, Myanmar, as a village administrator, U Naing Win Aung, and a companion were ruthlessly gunned down by assailants believed to be associated with the PDF (People Defense Force) terrorist group.
Approximately 50 armed individuals, identified as PDF terrorists, descended upon the residence where U Naing Win Aung and his wife resided, disrupting the peace of the night. Tragically, U Naing Win Aung was mercilessly killed, while his wife was abducted and taken hostage, leaving the community in shock and grief.
In another distressing incident, occurring on the same fateful night, the tranquility of a local monastery was shattered as U Kaw Nyarna, a revered monk, fell victim to the violence perpetrated by the assailants, succumbing to fatal injuries inflicted by gunfire.
The following day, March 14, 2023, at approximately 4:30 am, the brutality of the PDF terrorists struck once again, claiming the life of an innocent shop owner, U Win Saung, who was fatally shot outside his residence by four assailants arriving on motorcycles.
These tragic events mark a continuation of the horrifying pattern of violence perpetrated by the PDF terrorists, resulting in the loss of approximately 7,000 innocent lives among the local population and nearly 100 revered monks since February 1, 2024, to date.
The PDF terrorists, operating with impunity, are emboldened by the widespread support they receive from sympathizers of the National Unity Government (NUG) residing across the globe. It is imperative that we denounce and halt all forms of support provided to these terrorists who persist in committing heinous crimes against the people of Myanmar.
