More Vietnamese Tourists Expected in Myanmar This Tour Season
Yangon 16 January 2024
The Ministry of Tourism Department, Myanmar anticipates a surge in tourist arrivals from Vietnam during the upcoming tour season. While Myanmar has been a favored destination for many, particularly Thai and Chinese tourists, political unrest has deterred visitors from Vietnam. Despite these challenges, Vietnamese travel agencies are actively promoting the Myanmar market to attract their fellow citizens.
Myanmar, known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty, remains an attractive destination for travelers worldwide. Unfortunately, the country has seen a decline in visitors due to various factors, including political instability and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, there is optimism on the horizon. In March, a significant increase in Vietnamese tourists is expected. Currently, only 20 percent of travel agencies are operational in Myanmar, reflecting the potential for growth in the tourism sector. As conditions stabilize and with the collective efforts of Vietnamese travel agencies, Myanmar is poised to welcome a substantial influx of tourists in the coming months.
