IED explosions in Yangon Children Hospital claimed responsibilities by the opposition groups

On December 1 around 7:30 PM, two explosions rocked the Yankin Children’s Hospital in South Okkalapa township of Yangon. Local sources claimed a group of youth dropped a package with Improvised Explosive Device IED in front of hospital before setting off the explosion. Although there is no report about causalities, the patients and medical staffs were evacuated for safety reason.
Two opposition armed groups associated with NLD party led PDF, the “Yangon West District People’s Defense Force” and Yangon Army (YA) claimed responsibility for this attack to the children hospital.
The NLD party led parallel Government in exile the NUG National Unity Government and its armed wing PDF Peoples’ Defense Forces which formed after 2021 coup regarded everyone working for the Junta regime as the collaborators and schools and hospitals are frequently targeted. Recently on 14 November, the allied forces of PDF and Kayah ethnic KNDF under the NUG took 204 hostages who are teachers and family members from the Kayah State’s Loikaw University.
