Three pollical assassinations in Mandalay and Bago divisions on 31 October 2023
USDP party on election campaign 2020
There have been wide spread killings of political party members and government employees around the country perpetuated by both sides of the conflict. The junta and its militia murder and detain political dissidents while the opposition forces and militias murdered anyone whom they accused as sympathizers or collaborators, mostly the members of USDP political party and government employees. Most of the assassinations take places in the areas contested by the warring functions and committed by armed men without wearing uniform and some murders are taken responsibility on social media pages by the group who carried out killing.
According to the information released by police, six PDF militia men on motorbikes came to houses of USDP party members U Toe Myint 47 and U Htay Aung 70 in Kywe Zein village, NganZun township Mandalay division on 31 October 2023. Both victims were executed in their homes in front of their families by the gunmen with bullet on the head. They are said to be USDP party activists who took part in 2020 general election campaign. the USDP party is the main opposition party for Suu Kyi’s NLD party and after the 2021 coup, the opposition forces regard its members as collaborator of the military regime.
In a separated incident claimed by local police in southern Myanmar Bago division, the village administrator of KhaungGua (K) village in Oakpho township U Myint Kyaw 58 was ambushed by five PDF militiamen of OKPO opposition forces while he was traveling on motorbike with his wife Daw Khin San Win. He was executed on the spot and his phone and motorbike was taken away the assailants. The OKPO forces spokesman Bo Tauk Tei (Captain. Gucko) released statement and claimed responsibility for the assassination to opposition News Page BurmaVJ on Facebook Social Media that the victim was returning home village with his wife from hiding elsewhere when incident happened. The victim and wife left motorbike and run away from them. They fired 6 bullets and 4 hit him fatally. The OKPO assassins did not harm the victim’s wife and confiscated his belongings claiming that he was serving for the military Junta and harassing local population by recruiting new soldiers for the junta army.
