Ensuring Education Amidst Challenges: Over Five Million Students Enrolled in Myanmar’s State Schools for 2024-2025
Yangon. Myanmar (28/05/24)
For the 2024-2025 academic year, over five million students are enrolled in government state schools across Myanmar. The Ministry of Education has ensured that all students receive free stationery, uniforms, and textbooks. Additionally, the education minister and other authorities are actively addressing enrollment requirements, including security and other concerns, to support guardians, staff, teachers, and students. Students in Myanmar are beginning their education journey from Prep up to Year 12.
Myanmar is one of the poorest nation in Southeast Asia, struggling with internal conflicts. There are hundreds of armed groups operating within the country, and some of these groups have been disrupting the education of students through various means. The government is making significant efforts to restore stability and ensure a safe learning environment.
The school year will start on June 3rd, with enrollment due by June 2nd, 2024. Many students are still enrolling, and the numbers are expected to increase.
