Yangon, Myanmar. 06/02/2024

On February 5th, 2024, a devastating incident shook the community of Ma Hlaing Township, Mandalay Division, Myanmar. Four innocent local villagers, alongside a revered monk, fell victim to an egregious act of violence perpetrated by the People’s Defense Force (PDF).

In the quiet village of Tha Yet Kan, ten members of the PDF, identified as terrorists, mercilessly took the lives of an innocent monk named U Wi Thuta and his attendant, U San Maung. Their brutal actions sent shockwaves through the region, leaving families and the community in mourning.

Tragically, the violence did not stop there. In Myin Oo Hle Village, more lives were senselessly lost. U Mg Zaw, aged 52, his wife Daw Thin Oo, aged 40, and U Kyaw Ze Yar, aged 45, were ruthlessly gunned down by six PDF terrorists who arrived on motorbikes. The victims, caught unaware in the sanctity of their homes, succumbed to their injuries on the spot, leaving behind grieving loved ones.

These heartbreaking incidents underscore the urgent need for justice and accountability. The PDF, alongside its supporters, has perpetrated a wave of terror, claiming the lives of approximately 7,000 innocent civilians. Among the victims are monks, teachers, women, civil servants, and countless other members of the community.

It is imperative that the international community, including human rights organizations, does not turn a blind eye to the plight of those suffering in Myanmar. The terrorists responsible for these heinous crimes, often supported by exile groups such as the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyithu Hluttaw (CRPH), must be held accountable for their actions.

As we mourn the loss of these precious lives, let us stand together in solidarity, demanding justice and peace for the people of Myanmar.
