During a recent meeting in Naypyidaw, Dr. Nyunt Phe, the Minister of Education, emphasized the importance of incorporating Myanmar language, Myanmar history, and Myanmar geography into the curriculum of private schools across Myanmar. Addressing the heads of education departments from various administrative regions, Dr. Nyunt Phe underscored the necessity for private schools to adhere to national educational standards.

In alignment with these standards, Dr. Nyunt Phe stressed the obligation for private schools to instill a sense of national identity by adhering to protocols such as saluting the national flag and singing the national anthem. Failure to integrate these elements has previously drawn criticism from the public, particularly regarding the activities of certain private schools, including international institutions.

It is crucial to note that Myanmar, despite being one of the world’s poorest countries, hosts several private schools, some of which charge exorbitant fees exceeding $10,000 per student annually. In light of this, ensuring that all private schools fulfill their educational responsibilities, including the incorporation of essential subjects and national symbols, is imperative for fostering a unified and culturally enriched educational environment in Myanmar.
