A convoy of 200 vehicles with 700 refugees given access to proceed on national Highway by the Northern Alliance

Refugee Convoy near Kokang region 7 November 2023

On 7 November afternoon around 3PM local time, the refugee convoy from trouble Kokang prefecture who have been stranded on the national highway for 3 days were given permission by the Northern Alliance Forces to proceed to Wa Prefecture, armed forces of which declared to be neutral in the hostilities.

According to the news released by Kokang Prefectural government, there are about 13,400 refugees taking refuge at Chinese refugee camp on the Border Post 125. The situation on the ground is very volatile with battles across the whole Kokang region concentrating on the prefectural capital Lauk Kai city.

The opposition forces claimed on 7 November evening that they have occupied the Kham Patt city on the western most part of country bordering India after 4 days of intense fighting. This is the second city occupied by the opposition forces in Sagaing division since the offensive in that theatre begun on 3 November.

In the separate development on southern part of the country, the local authorities in Bago division claimed that Drone bomb by opposition forces killed 5 workers and injured 6 at the river sand excavation worksite in TaNawKyune village, Waw township which is near the Sittaung river.
