Tragic Abduction and Fatalities in Sagaing Region, Myanmar

On May 21, 2024, at approximately 5:00 PM, an abduction incident involving the PDF (People Defense Force) terrorists resulted in the deaths of five innocent individuals, including two government employees, in the Sagaing Region of Myanmar.
The incident commenced at the Tax Office located in Parami Ward, Sagaing Town, where five PDF terrorists forcibly entered the premises. They abducted three individuals, including two unarmed government employees, and transported them in a vehicle. The terrorists then proceeded to the Immigration Office, where they threatened a female staff member and her family. During this attack, another terrorist assaulted her husband and eight-year-old child, who had arrived to pick her up. The family was subsequently taken hostage as human shields.
A confrontation ensued between the terrorists and security forces during the abduction. Tragically, the terrorists shot and killed the three victims from the Tax Office, including two female staff members and one male staff member. Additionally, two of the terrorists were killed in the exchange.
The remaining terrorists fled with their hostages from the Immigration Office. Security forces are currently in pursuit of the perpetrators, who have committed multiple crimes against unarmed civilians and government staff.
