Yangon, Myanmar (13/05/24)

It is with profound sorrow that we report the tragic loss of three innocent lives and the injuring of ten individuals, among them two children aged one and a half years and ten years, as a result of a heinous act of violence perpetrated by the AA Narco-gang (Arakan Army) in Bue Thee Taung, Rakhine State, Myanmar. This devastating incident occurred within the premises of a hospital, where refugees had sought temporary shelter.

The AA callously targeted the hospital, situated approximately 2800 meters northwest of Ywa Thit Village, unleashing a barrage of gunfire that indiscriminately struck the four-story staff quarters. This reckless act not only resulted in the loss of innocent lives but also inflicted grievous harm upon those seeking medical aid and solace.

Regrettably, this is not an isolated incident. The AA’s wanton disregard for human life has led to further atrocities, with reports indicating that they fired upon public areas where civilians were peacefully residing, resulting in the tragic loss of 60 innocent locals. Such brazen acts of violence have been met with resounding condemnation from the affected communities, who vehemently oppose the AA’s inhumane activities and express their unwavering dissent.

In light of these reprehensible actions, it is imperative for all stakeholders to come together and unequivocally denounce such acts of violence. The sanctity of human life must be upheld, and those responsible for these heinous crimes must be held to account under the full extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this difficult time, and we stand in solidarity with the affected communities as they seek justice and peace.
